Welcome
Welcome to the web site of the European
Commission funded Project “Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme
II” in Turkey.
The Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme,
within the MEDA II Programme, is jointly implemented
by the General Secretariat of the EU Affairs of Republic
of Turkey, Central Finance and Contracts Unit of the
Republic of Turkey, and the European Commission Delegation
to Turkey (Jean Monnet Joint Committee). The Programme
aims to support Turkey’s efforts towards accession by
enhancing its human resources in the relevant disciplines
for accession.
Jean Monnet Scholarship grants provide
an opportunity to Turkish young professionals in the
public and private sector and university students to
study for up to one year at postgraduate level in one
of the Member States of the European Union.
The technical assistance service provided
by the Jean Monnet Placement Agency can be summarised
as extending expertise in providing advice to potential
scholars on courses for study, preparation of necessary
documentations for selection and placement procedures,
monitoring scholars’ progress and maintaining a database
and network of Jean Monnet Alumni.
The project value is 10 million Euros
over for a 6-year period and it is hoped to offer up
to 400 scholarships through this project. It started
in May 2001 78 scholars in academic year 2003/04, 116
scholars in academic year 2004/05 and 136 scholars in
academic year 2005/06 have benefited from the scholarship.
Approximately 85 scholarships will be granted for 2008/09
academic year.
We hope to use this web site
as a communication tool to let those interested in the
project knows what it is about and how they can apply
for a scholarship. But we also hope that it will facilitate
sharing of information between scholars. Alumni will
be present to enable past scholars to register to maintain
the data base up to date.
